High blood pressure

Hello, I'm Jarin.

I am going to post again about high blood pressure. Hypertension and hyperlipidemia are diseases that I am also very sensitive to because I am taking medication. I try to manage it that much, and I work hard on the bike too?? I'm riding I am taking my medications and limiting my alcohol as much as possible. It's high blood pressure the first time I posted a disease, but I think I'm going to post it again because I think it's been written like crazy.

What is high blood pressure???

High blood pressure is a condition in which blood pressure is elevated due to several reasons. Blood pressure is the pressure of blood against the walls of arteries. The blood pressure is highest when the heart contracts and pumps blood to the arterial blood vessels, which is called systolic blood pressure. Also, when the heart stretches and receives blood, it is at its lowest level, and the blood pressure at this point is called diastolic blood pressure. It is estimated that about 30% of the adult population in Korea has hypertension, a symptom of elevated blood pressure.

1. Normal blood pressure

systolic blood pressure less than 120mmHg, diastolic blood pressure less than 80mmHg

 2. Prehypertension

systolic blood pressure of 120 to 139 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure of 80 to 89 mmHg

 3. Stage 1 hypertension (mild hypertension)

systolic blood pressure 140 to 159 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure 90 to 99 mmHg

 4. Stage 2 hypertension (moderate or higher hypertension)

systolic blood pressure greater than 160 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure greater than 100 mmHg

Causes of high blood pressure

In 90-95% of high blood pressure, the cause is unknown. This is called essential (primary) hypertension. In the remaining 5-10%, blood pressure rises due to kidney or blood vessel abnormalities, adrenal disease, or thyroid disease. In this case, high blood pressure can be resolved by finding and treating the cause, which is called secondary hypertension. Secondary hypertension is when hypertension develops at a very young age (before 20 years of age) or after 50 years of age, high blood pressure of 180/110 mmHg or higher, high blood pressure with severe target organ damage, or other findings suggesting other secondary causes. Inspection for.

Factors that cause high blood pressure are as follows:

1. Family history of cardiovascular disease (hereditary)

2. Smoking

3. Hyperlipidemia

4. Diabetes

5. Seniors after 60 years of age

6. Gender (male and post-menopausal female)

7. Dietary factors: excessive intake of Na, fat and alcohol, insufficient intake of K, Mg, Ca

8. Drug factors: oral contraceptives, antacids, anti-inflammatory drugs, appetite suppressants

I think 1,2,3,7 may be the cause. Both my parents are taking blood pressure medications... I haven't smoked for 9 years and I'm also taking high blood pressure medications. And... Excessive intake of fat and alcohol... This seems to be the problem...

Nosebleeds,  headache,  palpitations, etc.

high blood pressure symptoms

High blood pressure has no obvious symptoms and is often discovered incidentally during a physical examination or examination. High blood pressure is often asymptomatic and often referred to as the “silent demon of death.”

1. Headache or dizziness

2. Heart palpitations, fatigue

3. nosebleeds or hematuria;

4. Poor vision

5. Symptoms of Cerebrovascular Disorder

Some people have no symptoms no matter how high their blood pressure is, while others show symptoms such as a headache right away even if their blood pressure rises even slightly. Therefore, in order to detect high blood pressure early, it is recommended to have regular health checkups or to measure blood pressure frequently using a home blood pressure monitor.

I was fortunate enough to have symptoms and was transported to the hospital.

After arriving at the hospital on 119 and waking up, I took my blood pressure, and it was between 180 and 200.... After I got Ringel and it fell to 150, they told me to go back to the internal medicine office and get treatment. how hot it was...

high blood pressure treatment

non-pharmaceutical treatment

The basis of nonpharmacological treatment for high blood pressure is lifestyle modification and correction of risk factors. The most important thing is exercise and 'eating lightly and not smoking. In addition, weight loss and alcohol consumption are helpful.

1. exercise

Regular exercise not only has the effect of preventing the occurrence of high blood pressure, but also can reduce systolic blood pressure by 4.6-6.1 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 2.4-3.0 mmHg in hypertensive patients.

2. No smoking

Smoking raises systolic blood pressure by 4.8 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 3.9 mmHg, and these effects are more pronounced in elderly patients. As such, smoking not only directly raises blood pressure, but also promotes arteriosclerosis, which greatly increases the risk of coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral vascular disease. Therefore, people with high blood pressure must stop smoking.

3. Eat raw

As a result of reducing salt intake to 3 g per day for 4 weeks in patients with mild hypertension, it was reported that the systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were reduced by 16 mmHg and 9 mmHg compared to the case of 12 g per day. Especially in Korea, many people still consume several times the recommended daily salt intake. Especially in the elderly, taste is reduced, which makes the liver more salty. Therefore, it is better to use a salinity meter when cooking, not to eat broth as much as possible, and to savor the unique taste of ingredients rather than adding seasoning.

4. Sobriety

Regardless of the type of alcohol, one to two glasses of the right drink has the effect of lowering blood pressure slightly, but more than that will raise blood pressure. In addition, since alcohol increases the risk of various cancers and dementia, it is recommended to reduce alcohol consumption and drink only one or two drinks at a time, once or twice a week.

5. Lose Weight

In the elderly, excessive weight loss can be rather harmful. However, in the case of obesity with metabolic syndrome, weight loss can improve not only high blood pressure but also several comorbidities.

medication

If there is no accompanying disease such as coronary artery disease, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, etc. are usually used as the first treatment for hypertension in the elderly. If not, more than one drug may be used.

In some cases, if the blood pressure is well controlled, the drug can be reduced or stopped, but in most patients, it is necessary to keep the antihypertensive drug for a long time. Because blood pressure is being controlled while taking the drug, if the patient arbitrarily stops the drug, the blood pressure will rise again. Therefore, the control of hypertension medication should be decided in consultation with the attending physician rather than the patient arbitrarily.

In addition, in the case of white coat hypertension patients whose blood pressure is measured higher than usual in the office, blood pressure may drop excessively while taking the drug, resulting in actual hypotension. In this case, you may experience dizziness that gets worse when you stand up. Since these side effects occur more easily in the elderly, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist about the potential side effects of the medications you are taking, and if you experience symptoms of suspected side effects, consult your doctor.

After taking high blood pressure medication, I exercise (cycling) and try not to smoke and eat as fresh as possible. Ramen only contains 3/2 of the soup?? Alcohol has been significantly reduced compared to before, and I have lost more than 6 kg of weight.

My blood pressure has improved a lot, but when I'm still angry or unwell, when I measure my blood pressure, it's still high...

How to prevent high blood pressure

Hypertensive patients should first try to correct their lifestyle habits such as weight control, salt intake restriction, and alcohol intake restriction, and weight control is the most important. Losing 4.5 kg of weight lowers blood pressure. For people who are obese, diabetic, or have high cholesterol, changes in diet (a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products and low in saturated and total fat) are important to reduce the risk of heart and blood vessel disease.

Also, smokers should quit smoking and moderate aerobic exercise can help. People with primary hypertension do not need to limit physical activity as long as blood pressure is controlled. Regular exercise helps reduce blood pressure and weight, and improves heart function and overall health

Excessive alcohol consumption is an important risk factor for high blood pressure and stroke and should be avoided as it weakens the effectiveness of drug therapy. It is also recommended to increase calcium intake, increase the ratio of fiber and unsaturated fatty acids intake, and moderate caffeine intake.

Once you exercise and control your weight, your blood pressure will noticeably improve. I'm doing the same and I'm seeing it.

But when my body gets better, I get lazy again.... I exercise less...
